A Scottish music duo comprised of baritone Gaitley Stevenson-Mathews and pianist Jim Stevenson-Mathews, Two Men in Skirts began performing together in the winter of 2006, when invited to collaborate on several musical projects for Scottish games and other Celtic events in the Northea...st. With humor, joy, and a keen sense of style, they lead audiences through the rich history of Scotland's past and also through some of the more contemporary works by Scotland's great composers and lyricists.
The Patchogue performance will include a special guest appearance by the New York-based bagpipe band, Thistle Ensemble. The group has performed together for twenty years and has worked with the duo of Gaitley and Jim for the last three winters as part of Mohonk Mountain House's popular Scottish Weekend. Under the direction of Pipe Major Marion Hamilton, the bagpipe and drum ensemble plays a wide repertoire of pipe tunes with an emphasis on works from the Scottish tradition.
