Polaroid film is no longer being manufactured. Polaroid lifts and transfers are two easy and fun photo manipulation processes that are no longer possible to do as a result (some people have been working with Fuji instant film with limited results). For Polaroid lifts, a Polaroid print is soaked in hot water until the e...mulsion separates from the paper backing. The emulsion is then transferred to a new surface. Polaroid transfers are made by placing the negative side of a Polaroid peel-apart print (type 669 film) onto wet paper and braying it to transfer the dyes to the paper surface.
To make these lifts and transfers, I shot existing images onto slide film, and used a Daylab to transfer the image on the slide to the Polaroid film. While you could just load the film into a Polaroid camera and shoot images to use, most people doing these processes use a Daylab, as it allows for more flexibility and lets you use the same image for multiple attempts,
