UC Davis Athletics Congrats to Aggie Football as receiver Chris Carter was named the Great West Conference Offensive Player of the Year, linebacker Mike Morales earned top defensive honors, and Bob Biggs was named Coach of the Year. UC Davis coach Bob Biggs, who led the Aggies to a winning season and the Great West Conference championship, has been named one of 20 candidates for the prestigious Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award, given to the top coach in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision. The Eddie Robinson Award is one of... the three major honors at the FCS level, joining the Walter Payton Award and Buck Buchanan Awards, given to the top offensive and defensive players, respectively. The Aggies 28-20 win over North Dakota gives UC Davis its first football championship since 2005, and the 6th win of the season assures UC Davis' first winning season since 2006. Next football game is the Causeway Classic against rival Sacramento State at the Hornet Stadium.

UC Davis junior Mark Payne has been named to the CollegeInsider.com Preseason Mid-Major All-America Team. The Aggie is one of 25 players, nationally, selected to the team. Payne is the only player from the Big West Conference represented on the elite list.
Payne and the Aggies open their season Friday afternoon against ...Colorado State in Eugene, Ore. The guard is coming off a sophomore campaign in which he was named Second-Team All-Big West. Earlier this fall, Payne was named to the Big West Media Preseason All-Big West Team. The last home football game of the year is this Saturday at 1pm against North Dakota. Come out and celebrate SENIOR DAY as we honor the seniors for their years of effort representing the team. Also, UC Davis and North Dakota are tied for first in the Great West Conference and this game will decide the CONFERENCE CHAMPI...ON!

Greg Denham threw for 278 yards and a touchdown, linebacker Mike Morales had 13 tackles and Sean Kelley kicked three field goals - including a school-record tying 52-yarder - as UC Davis beat Great West Conference rival Cal Poly 23-10 before a sellout crowd of 10,849 at Aggie Stadium in the annual "Battle for the Golde...n Horseshoe Classic."
The victory also sets up a showdown with North Dakota this Saturday, November 14 at Aggie Stadium with the winner claiming the Great West Conference championship http://bit.ly/1Ji7nB
