UMBC Athletics Michelle Kurowski garnered the season's first America East Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors! The sophomore guard averaged 21.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in two games this weekend shooting 56 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range and a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line.
UMBC Athletics Sunday is a busy day for the Retrievers! Bball doubleheader at the RAC - WBB vs. UMES at 1, followed by MBB season opener vs. Morgan St. at 3:30. Msoccer plays at SBU for the AE title at 5, and vball plays at UNH at 1 with an AE tourney berth at stake. UMBC Athletics Freshman Naomi Bush has been named America East Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season. The freshman, who led the Retrievers to a 3-0 win over Hartford Friday, hit nine kills with no errors on 14 swings for an outstanding .643 hitting percentage

UMBC Athletics Levi Houapeu was named America East Men's Soccer Player of the Week on Monday for the second time this season. Houapeu scored four goals and added a pair of assists for 10 points in two games last week, including his second hat trick of the season against Albany.

UMBC Athletics Seniors Tereza Kaplanova and Matt Mattingly have been named America East Swimmers of the Week. Each recorded wins in the 200 IM at Rider, while Kaplanova took the 200 breast and Mattingly the 100 breast.
