- Evaluate various initiatives vis-à-vis sustainable development on the African Continent and globally.
- Compare notes on how to ensure sustainable development in every sector of African economies through research in the continent's higher educational institutions.
- Present for critique of strategies adopted/adapted by African economies for sustainable development and the realization of the MDGs through quality higher education research in Africa.
- Recommend possible higher education research strategies for accomplishing sustainable development via the MDGs.
- Foster closer relationships among researchers, policymakers, and the mass media in Africa to promote wider understanding of successful policy initiatives in higher education for sustainable development in the region.
