The Cabarrus County Convention and Visitor's Bureau is hosting the2009 Concord ITU Duathlon World Championship which will take place in Concord, N.C. September 24-27, 2009.
Kathleen Johnston Southeast Junior Team had top finishes at Youth/Junior Nationals in CO: Matt Stanley 1st 11-12, Hunter Honeycutt 3d Youth Elite, Johanna Gartman 4th Junior Elite, Luke Farkas 6th Junior Elite. Med McDonald, Morgan Marable, Genny Pittman, Madison Honeycutt, Sara Gartman, Seth Rider also competed.
Kathleen Johnston Southeast states did well in State Championship standings at Age Group Nationals: GA 2nd (2:20:28 ave. time), TN 5th (2:24:17 ave. time), AL 7th (2:27:53 ave. time).

Congratulations to Joseph Welsh (11th Jr M), Luke Farkas (15th Jr M) & Johanna Gartman (11th Jr F) who represented the SE Junior Team at the Strawberry Fields Junior Elite Triathlon in Oxnard, CA on July 19. They did a fantastic job of representing the SE Region at the highly competitive Junior Elite Cup series race. ... They faced some very challenging conditions in the swim with the water at 60 degrees F and strong surf – some of those waves were huge! The guys had to contend with a “marine layer” of fog that rolled in just before their start which obscured all the course buoys. Things cleared up a bit for the ladies and a dolphin was spotted swimming across the course. Highlights included Joseph bridging across two chase packs to reach Luke who led the first chase pack throughout the race. Joseph and Luke then broke away from the pack just before entering T2 to start the run in 3rd and 4th. Johanna posted the second fastest run split of the day with a 19:12. Well done!Read More
