One of the year’s most anticipated events in the School of Music, the annual Scholarship Concert, will be held Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20 and 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Libby Gardner Concert Hall. The University of Utah Singers, A Cappella Choir, Alumni Choir, Utah Philharmonia and guest soprano Carol Ann Allred will join f...orces to perform “Gloria,” in settings by Poulenc and Rutter. “There is nothing more exciting than hearing 200 voices singing with a full orchestra,” explains Brady Allred, who will conduct the concert. “These great choral and orchestral masterpieces will take the listener through a journey of emotions, from reverence to joy, from the humorous to the sublime, and from simplicity to exuberance.” Also on the program are Alexander Borodin's "Polovtsian Dances."
Tickets available from the Kingsbury Hall box office or at the door the night of the concert. Students $5 and general admission $10. Additional service fees may apply.
