Loved the write-up about you. Wish I could say something smart about your work, which I have loved truly, madly, deeply for a long long time.

Just read your write up, BK--impressive, well deserved, true. Miss getting in person doses of your talent, but will settle for your FB updates for now.

Had a dream that I was in Cambridge, bookshopping, and I saw a copy of Unsaid with an alternate cover. It was red and orange and had little drawings on it. It had a few names on the cover that I couldn't make out. I asked the store attendant what this was and said that it was a special issue. I tried to buy it but it w...as 99 bucks with a ten dollar rebate, so, 89. I think there were small lizards on the walls at the bookstore.Read More

Brian Kubarycz - Six Pieces: These six pieces run the full gamut, don't they? One page stories, a longer short story, a couple of poems. There were two things that continued to jump out at me - his brief inclusions...

"What I'm trying to single out with this term [apparatus ('dispositif')] is, first and foremost, a thoroughly heterogeneous set consisting of discourses, institutions, architectural forms, regulatory decisions, laws, administrative measures, scientific statements, philosophical, moral and philanthropic propositions - i...n short the said as much as the unsaid. Such are the elements of the apparatus. The apparatus is the network which can be established between these elements . . .

by the term 'apparatus' I mean a kind of formation, so to speak, that at a given historical moment has as its major function the response to an urgency. The apparatus therefore has a strategic function. . . . The apparatus is precisely this: a set of strategies of the relations of forces supporting, and supported by, certain types of knowledge."
