Utah Foster Care Foundation UFCF just completed FY09, graduating 580 foster/adoptive families and 184 kin/specific families for the children of Utah!

Mick Woolsey
Hi Kimberly,
My name is Mick Woolsey and I am the Director of Education for the UFCF. That's a great question and I'd like to respond to you. We hold many of our trainings during the evening throughout the state because so many people work during the day. Normally, evening classes let out between 9:00pm and 9:30pm. Once in awhile they go over that time limit and it's hard to be out that late at night! We do hold some classes in the daytime throughout the year. Please contact your region trainer at the UFCF and he/she can direct you to those classes. If you have any other questions, please call me @ 1.877.505.5437. Thanks for stopping by!

Kimberly I am grateful for the classes but wondering why some classes last til 10pm?

Kimberly Dose anyone know if First aid and CPR are a state requirement for foster parents? We already are foster parents and just certified in both?
Utah Foster Care Foundation at 9:53am June 25
Hi Kimberly, First Aid & CPR certification is not a state requirement but families receive a 2 hour take-home instruction manual during the preservice training process. In addition to the preservice and inservice trainings provided by Utah Foster Care Foundation, we encourage families to access CPR/First Aid or other training opportunities in the community that will help them provide for the children in foster care in their home.

Utah Foster Care Foundation Many thanks to artists and fans alike who braved the stormy weather to look at chalk art last weekend! o see the Chalk Art Festival winners, check out the chalk art festival facebook page

Dose anyone have the number for the person in charge of volunteers?I can't make the training and pizza meeting on friday and I still want to help on Saturday morning!
Michael at 9:06am June 2
If you want to volunteer but can't make the party, you can still sign up on the chalk art website: www.chalkartfestival.org then use the link on the left of the page for volunteers!

Jennifer Upon hearing Duane Betournay (the state director of DCFS) speak about the budget cuts that the legislature had mandated this year, I felt that I needed to educate my local representative about how that would affect me as a foster parent and my foster children. The following is the letter I sent him (llook under "boxes" to find this) - he did respond in a very positive manner and is committed to helping us. However, he is only one! Please contact your representatives and help to educate them!
Charlene at 8:41am June 2
So I'm probably the only one that doesn't know but am I understanding correctly they are cutting payments to foster care parents . What can we do to help?

Jennifer at 8:38pm June 2
The best thing we can do is contact our local legislators and explain to them WHY this is not a good thing and specifically WHAT this will cut out of foster childrens lives - if you want to email me I can give you more info kjgkids@gmail.com
Thanks for caring!
