It's no fluke that Utah had one of the best economies in the nation, prior to the recession, or that it will yet reclaim that status in the near future, says Dr. Kelly K. Matthews, who will retire this month from his roles as senior economist and executive vice president for Wells Fargo Bank, and also from his role as special advisor to EDCUtah.
The second in a series of roundtable discussions focused on economic development and vitality was held a several weeks ago at the new O.C. Tanner Company building. Salt Lake City's central business district is growing, as small business enterprises are opening and important construction projects are taking shape or nearing completion.
The Governor's Office of Economic Development and their International Trade Office is hosting an export training seminar designed to educate Utah companies about trade developments in Mexico, the current Mexican economic situation and provide Utah businesses the export tools needed to expand into the Mexican market.
