Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute is a regional fine arts center serving diverse audiences through three program divisions - Museum of Art, Performing Arts, and School of Art. The Museum of Art offers 20 galleries featuring selections from the permanent collection and exhibitions of works from major collections worldwide. Find out about the more than 25,000 American and European 18th-, 19th-, and 20th-century paintings and 19th-century decorative arts shown in the Philip Johnson-designed museum and Fountain Elms, a refurbished 1850s mansion and original home of MWPAI's founders. Visitor Information PrattMWP, an alliance between two renowned institutions, offers students a unique educational opportunity. PrattMWP is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, Middle States Association, and New York State Education Department. PrattMWP students spend the first two years of their bachelor of fine arts degree program at our campus in Central New York before they complete their studies at Pratt’s main campus in Brooklyn. The Permanent Collection
  • Modern & Contemporary

  • Visitors can learn about the history of printmaking in Wood, Acid, Grease, Silk: Prints from the Museum's Collection, which opened August 1 and showcases woodcuts, etchings, lithographs and screenprints dating from the 15th to the 21st centuries.

    Seeking Transcendence, features works by contemporary artists who contemplate spirituality in Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, and Native American traditions and will be on view in Gallery 1 South through January 10, 2010.

    Visitors who are curious about contemporary art may also see selections from the Museum’s holdings in sculpture, painting, and works on paper in a long-term installation in Gallery 1 West. Highlights include Isidro Blasco’s intriguing Green Hallway, 2006, and photographs by Ann Hamilton.
