Big musical evening in Cincinnati on Friday night, November 28: Ritt Deitz Family Trio (with a few guest spots by other family members) playing tunes from UPSTREAM, COLLECTED, AFTER THE MOUNTAINS and unforeseen covers. Then, the Qubes 1986 Reunion Set; The Qubes began in 1982 (Ritt Deitz on guitar and vocals, Jim Faris... on bass, Pike 27's Dave Purcell on drums and vocals), played for two years, then reformed in 1985 for two years with Ritt, Jim, Marc Loomis on electric guitar and Dave Killen on drums.
Fans will hear Killen's vocal harmony on "Sing a Song of Fear Again" (UPSTREAM) and Faris on upright bass on songs on AFTER THE MOUNTAINS.
We have since located old Marc Loomis, strumming on his various Stratocasters in his London, England garret, and have brought everyone home for this stunning--yes, stunning--return to the basement-spawned, Cincinnati-club-tested barebones early-eighties sound of the Qubes, with songs from our most recent (1986) repertoire.
Show at 8pm at the fabulously folk-revival listening room Rohs Street
Cafe, just off W. McMillan off to the side of Clifton's elegant urban landmark, Hughes High School.
