We are writing to express our shock and disappointment at the Oct. 27 installment of "Sex on Tuesday." We are extremely offended by Mustafa Shaikh's use of language, his condoning of alcohol-induced sex, and his lightheartedness of a subject matter that often results in rape and sexual assault.

V-Day at UC Berkeley
Just on the heels of a recent report stating that violence against women on TV is up 120 percent, a recent window display in the Mars Vintage Shop on Telegraph and Channing is sporting dismembered female mannequins, images of female victims and newspaper clippings of women who have been murdered, kidnapped, etc.
Appare...ntly, it's OK to make light of violence against women--whether real or sensationalized--for Halloween.
Cal Student and blogger John Montague from UC Berkeley's student publication To an Unknown god eloquently criticizes the display and its insensitivity.
As of 4 p.m. today, the display is a bit less appalling, with some of the mutilated female mannequins removed, but it's still not gone. To voice your concern, stop by the vintage store or call them to complain at (510) 843-6711

Proof that violence against women is not a "over-there" occurance, but something that happens just mere miles away. Rapes usually are committed by someone the survivor knows, as this article points out in this occurance. This is not okay and we will not stand for this anymore!
"As many as six young men raped the girl i...n a secluded part of campus, while others laughed, took photos and stole her jewelry, police said.
The girl knew at least one of the men, who invited her to join the group in a drinking session after she left Richmond High's homecoming dance early at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.
The attack continued for more than two hours. Officers were finally alerted by someone at a house party who had heard rumors of what was happening at the school on 23rd Street and called police."

Posting this is neither an endorsement or condemnation of the exhibit from V-Day at UC Berkeley. Instead, what do YOU all think of the display?
