VEF Momentum
We’re really excited to announce that after a short summer break, the VEF Momentum team is kicking off its 2009-2010 series of speaker and networking sessions with “VEF Momentum Connect: Bootstrapping to Success”.
As part of our “Momentum Connect” series, this event will feature a speaker and Q&A session, as well as amp...le networking time to help aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs connect with the people, resources and answers they need to success - all in an inviting, fun and casual environment.
Our speaker for the evening will be Jason Bailey founder and CEO of KITN Media and SuperRewards. Using his own finances, Jason co-founded SuperRewards with two fellow entrepreneurs with the premise of monetizing virtual currencies. Almost immediately the service took off generating millions in revenues. It was acquired by AdKnowledge shortly thereafter for amount rumored in the tens of millions.
Jason will share his lessons and experiences on bootstrapping a start-up company with a killer business model and what young entrepreneurs can do to replicate SuperRewards meteoric rise to the top.

Following up on the successful "State of Entrepreneurship" and "Now More than Ever" networking and speaker events - VEF Momentum brings you "Stimulus" our first event in 2009. As part of our "Momentum Connect" series, the event will be focused on helping aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs connect with the people, r...esources and answers they need to succeed - all in an inviting, fun and casual environment.
At this event, dubbed "Stimulus", start-up veteran Rizwan Kheraj of NRC-IRAP will share his lessons on stimulating your start-up's cash flow during a recession and getting back to the basics in finding the resources to help you succeed.

After the unprecedented success of our official launch event "State of Entrepreneurship", we are pleased to present "Now More than Ever" at Tunnel Multi-Lounge on November 19th at 6:00PM.
Barry Jinks, Founder, President & CEO of Colligo Networks believes that the innovation and creativity of young, up-and-coming entrepr...eneurs can reignite a troubled economy. Barry has started and led a number of technology start-ups including LSI Logic Corporation and Spectrum Signal Processing which he grew from start-up phase to being listed on the NASDAQ and achieving $40MM in annual sales. Barry founded Colligo thereafter and has since been recognized by E&Y as Pacific Region Entrepreneur of the Year and currently serves on a number of Boards.
Barry will share his story of navigating and growing his business through the Dot-Com bust of 2001, and how the young entrepreneurs in attendance can refocus their ideas, business plans or established businesses to achieve success in these economic conditions. His informative speech and Q&A will be preceeded and followed by ice-breakers, ample networking time, competitions and other highlights throughout the evening.
Tickets are $6 and includes your first drink. Refreshments will also be served so arrive early, and your ticket entitles you to free cover to Tunnel's club event "1st Love Wednesdays" starting at 10PM (so stay late!).

VEF Momentum's inaugural speaker session and mixer for 2008! Open to all young, aspiring entrepreneurs.
Evening will begin with ice-breakers and introductions, followed by a keynote speech with a Q&A period and closes with some time to mingle and drink!
Dr. Geordie Rose, Founder and CTO of D-Wave Systems will discuss "Bu...ilding Momentum in Vancouver: Lessons for Young Entrepreneurs". He will discuss his rise as an entrepreneur founding and building a successful quantum computing company. He will go on to discuss Vancouver's transition into a hub for technology entrepreneurs over the past decade and how young entrepreneurs can use this to their advantage.
Early-bird tickets are free, otherwise registration is $5. If you have a VIP Pass, the $5 registration fee is waved.
