maria josé i'm 16 and i'm deaf and i speaking three language but i would like speaking one perso deaf and this site is very good .
next year i going to visit the Gallaudet schsool but i don't know who to ask my questions

LS Have you heard of www.ted.com? This is worth viewing and to think about how would that impact more people if Deaf leaders, Deaf political, Science etc give presentations there?

TED works for the highest good of all....sadly, VL2 does not recognize all deaf individuals, VL2 leaves out, dismisses, the most under served and over looked deaf...deaf that have secondary disabilities...Now, if VL2 wants to truly work for the highest good...then contact me.

I have a son, who is profoundly ... Read Moredeaf and autism. His autism impacts his expressive communication. I have contacted VL2 and was told that VL2 only wishes to work with "normal" deaf.

VL2 Science of Learning Center Gaurav Mathur, Paul Dudis, Julie Hochgesang, and Gene Mirus (in absentia), presented their plans for developing an ASL corpus, based on previous international efforts in Australia, Great Britain, The Netherlands, and Germany, as part of the G-VL2 Forum.

VL2 Science of Learning Center Guinevere Eden, Co-Initiative Director for the Vl2 Written Language and Reading Initiative is President of the International Dyslexia Association, and hosting a wonderful 60th annual meeting/conference in Orlando this week. Dr. Carol Connor, literacy consultant for the VL2 Early Education Longitudinal Study presented with her colleagues from the Florida Center on Reading Research.

Clifton Last weekend I visited Boston for the BUCLD conference and gave a small presentation to the Kuntze Lab regarding my new project: "Emergence of depiction in early language development."

Thanks to Sarah Fish for hosting me and coordinating my stay. I'm looking forward to a return visit in the spring.

VL2 Science of Learning Center This week, on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Dr. Karen Emmorey will deliver a series of three lectures at the University of Maryland, as part of the Blackwell lecture series. This series of lectures is entitled, "The biological foundations of language: Insights from sign language". Lectures are at 3:00 PM on Wednesday and Thursday, and 10AM on Friday in the Maryland Room in Marie Mount Hall.

VL2 Science of Learning Center Last Thursday, Dr. Jacqueline Leybaert, professor at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, presented a VL2 lecture on the Audio-Visual Integration in Chidren with Cochlear Implants. This research explores the possible confounding effects for speech recognition of multiple modalities (the McGurk Effect) for children with cochlear implants, and the effects of degrading the visual information on speech perception.

VL2 Science of Learning Center This weekend, the VL2 Student Leadership Team met in retreat at UCSD. While there they interacted with students from the Center for Research on Language visited the labs of Carol Padden and Rachel Mayberry (at UCSD) and Karen Emmorey (at San Diego State University). The SLT is comprised of Gabrielle Jones (U. of Illinois), Shilpa Hanumantha (Gallaudet), Connie Pucci (Gallaudet), and Kelly Kim (Boston University).
