Valerie Day This is so beautiful it makes me weep! Bassist extraordinaire Glen Moore shared it...and
writes in his comments that "The lyric is the result of Jobim walking
around the construction site of a newly built home after a big fall
storm". (I think "stomp" is really meant to be "stump" in the
translation :)

English words for Waters of Marh of Tom Jobim. A little surreal and nice, very nice song.

Gail Galloway

Gail Galloway Hey Valerie--it's Gail from Eugene--Used to be "Women in Music" on KRVM FM...now teaching English in China....amazing experience! Wanted to tell you I brought your old and new music with me here, and enjoy hearing your voice while I take walks or work out at the gym. It is amazing to think how music just carries on i...n the most suprising places!! Anyway, was listening to some New Shoes and thought of you and just wanted to say hello. Hope you are well and I do hope to bump into you sometime in PDX. Take Care!!

Thanks for finding me here Gail! It's great to hear from you. Sounds like life has been an amazing adventure since you left town! I love it that the music I've made is out there in the most surprising places. A friend of my brother's heard "I Can't Wait" on Voice of America in the jungles of China back in the 80's. Amazing that it's still being heard somewhere on the planet every 7 minutes! Thanks for taking us with you to such a faraway place. Take care!

Valerie Day "Because our human brain can learn to listen to anything, music has no cage. All music needs is a violated pattern, an order interrupted by a disorder, for in that acoustic friction, we hallucinate a feeling. Music is that feeling." From "Proust Was A Neuroscientist" by Jonah Lehrer.

Hey Joel - I felt the same until I heard Ray Charles sing C&W...once you hear Ray singing "whoopie i oh kayay" none of it sounds the same! Here's a video story on the country records he made. They don't play enough of the ACTUAL record here, but i bet you can find it on Amazon or iTunes of you're interested in checking it out. Let me know what you think!
