Company Overview:
We provides commuter rail service from the Virginia suburbs of Fredericksburg and Manassas to Alexandria, Crystal City and downtown Washington, D.C. We began in 1992, operating 16 trains from 18 stations and carried, on average, 5,800 passengers daily. Now, we operate 29 trains from 18 stations and carry, on average, 16,000 passengers daily.
Mission:
Virginia Railway Express, a joint project of the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission and the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission, will provide safe, cost-effective, accessible, customer-responsive, reliable rail passenger service as an integral part of a balanced, intermodal regional transportation system.
