(Leslie O'Flahavan and Marilynne Rudick) What differentiates "adequate" customer service e-mail from "excellent" customer service e-mail? We've analyzed hundreds of customer service e-mails and we've found that many companies do an adequate job of responding promptly,... within 24 – 48 hours. ...

              • Mike Ryan As you read through this posting you cannot help but relate to your own experiences – I think we’ve all experienced less than stellar online customer service at one time or another. The author’s suggestions are obvious and we should take note of the little things when the tables are turned and we’re the ones providing the customer service. Slow down, think ahead, and give the customer the answer they are looking for before they even ask the question!

              • Don Hoyt Developing a version of MailFlow that supports multiple instances against a single database was a major undertaking from a development standpoint, but was necessary to ensure that MailFlow can scale to accommodate any size organizations. And now that we've got that under our belts, several new features are soon to follow! We can expect more frequent releases with new features in the coming months. If there are features you'd like to see added to MailFlow please let us know!

I was recently made aware of an almost unprecedented program that GM is going to roll out to some of its dealerships.  Basically, in an attempt to improve the dealership’s email customer service and sales, GM is going to pay quarterly bonuses to dealerships that demonstrate they can answer cu...

                • Mike Ryan Having purchased a new vehicle recently I can say from experience the quality of the responses I received were all over the map. Some did a nice job of meeting my needs, while others clearly placed little value in an email inquiry. While I cannot honestly say I purchased my new GM because of the email response, but I can say it played a part of the overall first impression of the dealership I was looking to do business with.

                • Mike Ryan MailFlow continues to require IE however several in house are running Firefox with IE tabs and it works very well. Most users will have both browsers on their system but for various reasons have a preference of one or another so if it's simply a matter of UI with Firefox then setting us IE tabs should be fine.

At the height of travel season, we decided to conduct a (non-scientific) experiment  to find out which hotel chain does customer service e-mail best.  Using the clever pseudonym “Jane Doe,” we sent this e-mail query to hotel chains with properties near Chicago’s Midway Airport.
