*sigh* "Freedom of Speech" is the protection of speech from GOVERNMENTAL intrusion/blocking/curtailment, not from private parties.

Denouncing this character's hate spew for what it truly is and the dangers it poses is not censorship. It is our duty as members of a society that will not stand by for hate and bigotry and the infamy it promotes.

Like these people before me have said, that is where the line gets crossed, when you try to use the government to deny private citizens the right to pay to see what they want in a private establishment.

@Ian- Absolutely not. If I were protesting Izzard, I'd still have the right to tell the venue that I wouldn't support them if they booked him, and the venue would have the right to take my opinion into consideration and cancel the booking.

The difference, in my eyes, is that Izzard has never condoned violence against any particular group (at least based on what I've heard of his stand-up). This artist, Banton, is saying that people should hurt me and people like me.

This is so horrible! I have gay friends, and they have their partners, and I would never treat these friends like this! They are people just like us hetero's! This Amendment 2 should be thrown out!

Smoking must be doing something for those who choose to buy cigarettes, or they wouldn't buy them. They've made the decision to continue to smoke, because they enjoy it, or haven't fully decided to quit. Either way, they had the freedom to make their own bed. He is trying to play music for people who want to hear it in a private establishment.
