The same day, Deputy State's Attorney Anthony B. Covington made public his candidacy for the post, saying that with more than a decade in the Charles County prosecutor's office, he is best-qualified to be Collins' successor.
Charles County Deputy State's Attorney Anthony B. Covington received an early boost in his bid to become the county's next top prosecutor, picking up the endorsement Tuesday of Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler.
