You know, anyone can juggle figures to prove whatever point they want to make...I think the medical professionals have for a long time justified all the costs of the new test equipment by having us use it more anyway...anyone ever heard of drug kick-backs for doctors? Same with hospitals and their expensive machines. The more radiation one gets the more chance that person will have of getting cancer in a few years....

well... I know all about juggling figures! I have seen studies at Cornelll support one theory... then the next semester... studies show just the opposite result!!!!!! Watched that for years!!! As far as the risk of overexposure!!!! LOL... The new machines have NO scatter!!!!! That is what I have done for years!!! and reality is... we technicians ... Read Morewear badges that measure our exposure regularly.. OSHA mandate... In all my years of daily rads... Nothing!!!!! This badge is for the publics protection as well as ours. It will show anywhere that there is an issue... These results are turned into an independant company which keeps all records and is required to report anything to the state!!!! Sorry guys!!! This "new research" is all being done specifically to change the outgoing costs of healthcare.. Twist it as you like... 2 MAJOR studies that would save the new healthcare program LOTS!!!! JUST HAPPEN to come out now???? I don't hink that is purely coincidence!!! And thoes of us with insurance will also pay the price because I guarantee they will soon change coverage to meet these new recs... As far as the change in the tests for the men..... that test is pennies no matter what they try to say it costs!!!!!!

Amen....Linda!!! I know all about research, Roz. Having direct connections to the Veterinary area of Cornell.. and many of the up and coming Vets.... Well, I have seen them do research to support a theory of theirs... The research does support it!!! The next semester another student comes along and does the same research but supports the ... Read Moreopposite conclusion.... Tweaking research is easy to do!!!!! I must say that a mammography is a must!!!! Where the changes need to be is in the quality of said mammography. The classic one has difficulties finding tumors in younger, more dense breasts..... The change should be a recommendation for DIGITAL mammography and keep the age where it is!!! However, this will never happen because digital is more expensive... the outcome of this healthcare plan is going to be to limit care!!!!
