WIRED4LIFE Unfortunately; HEART HEALTHY LIVING magazine is NOT going to feature WIRED in the Fall/November issue. I am very disapointed as you can imagine! They have promised either a future issue or an online exclusive; as the longtime members know, we have been hearing this for about 2.5 years, so I won't hold my breath. :(

WIRED4LIFE Thanks ladies for posting your comments here. I have posted an updated message on our message board, with your thoughts...I really appreciate your honesty! Believe it or not -- it was VERY difficult to find information online even from the hardcore heart hospitals; such as Cleveland or Mayo Clinics, I was very surprised!

WIRED4LIFE In our Saturday morning chat a critical issue arose: one member was not having mammograms, because her doctor told her she couldn't have one with a pacemaker. I told her I've had them every four years since 1991 without one problem. When I asked... why, she was told either the pacemaker itself or leads might come out. ...If you are a wired woman, please share your experiences or comments on this issue. Thanks!!!!

I have them every year and have had a pacemaker since 2000. No problem but I am very protective of the area and they always have to tell me to move my hand.

I have only had my pacemaker about 2 years, but have had 2 mammograms since. The technician is always very careful... the only thing she told me is sometimes the pacemaker may hide or shadow a small area they cannot read as well, but I would recommend getting a mammogram!

WIRED4LIFE Drives me BATTY when the word used to put a pacemaker in someone's body is "installed." Really? A doctor is able to INSTALL a pacemaker in a body? How about we use the proper word: IMPLANT. That is what they do, they make an opening in the skin, create a pocket and implant the pacemaker. They do not hook it up to... a couple of battery cables and 'install' it. Well, it's sort of like that, ha!!!!! ♥ ♥

I wonder if I said or wrote "installed" at some point...I may have! I DO like implanted better; makes me feel less like a broken down car or something!

Tayyebeh Marefat The Conference was great. Thank you Dawn and your wonderful family to put such a great, informative and most of all fun event together. I made it hoe a week ago still trying to get over the jet lag. I am glad I made it. Thanks again Dawn. Looking forward to the next one.
