"Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 -- a date which will live in infamy -- the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately ...attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan."

Carver County Historical Society 91 years ago today: October 30, 1918: The Ottoman Empire signs the Treaty of Mudros with the Allies, ending Ottoman involvement in WWI and leaving Austria-Hungry and Germany to finish the war on their own.

Carver County Historical Society 47 years ago today: October 22, 1962: Cuban Missle Crisis beings! President Kennedy announces that Russian missles had been sighted on Cuba. The U.S. set up a blockade of Cuba until the missles were removed. Any nuclear attack from Cuba would be construed as an act of war, and that the United States would retaliate in kind.

Carver County Historical Society 91 years ago today: September 29, 1918: During WWI, U.S. and other allied forces broke through the last established defensive German trench line in the Western front signalling the beginning of the end of the Great War.
