Vivienne Lee

Vivienne Lee I know that the Winter Max Units is 7, so how come when my cousin was registering for a 3 Unit class, (He already has a 4 unit one), he couldn't add it, stating that he was over max hours, even though 3+4 is obviously 7...

Mt. SAC Good article in the Washington Post, of all places, talking about the 32% increase in UC fees for 2010.

www.washingtonpost.com
LOS ANGELES -- California's mission of providing residents with access to affordable, high-quality public education suffered a setback this week as University of California officials sharply increased student fees, driven by economic realities that are forcing similar steps at public university...

There are a number of legislator's offices within a few minutes drive from Mt. SAC. Stopping by - even without an appointment - would send a clear message. Tell them of your experiences, opinions, and what you want them to do. I meet with most of them regularly and can assure you that they DO listen. Regular people just don't bother to stop in and speak up. Its time you did.

...and meanwhile in reality they'll just shrug it off and sign yes on the bill. They do not care. This means more money for someone somewhere, and you know the extra money will be squandered, then when they blow that money, in about eight years, it will be "Our education system is in peril, we must increase taxes again and increase fees."
Lather, rinse, repeat.

Jeff Spiszer

Jeff Spiszer Relatively simple question. I noticed on the IGETC sheet that Speech is a cal state requirement only. Originally I was planning on taking this class in Spring. However, I only applied to UCs so I figured that I just wouldn't take it. Today a friend of mine told me that they thought it was a mt. Sac requirment...
So my q...uestion is... Do I NEED to take Speech if I am planning on transferring to a UC, not a CSU?

Clarence Brown Going to pay special tribute to a dear friend and colleague at Mt. SAC---Jay Devers, who passed away suddenly last week. He was in charge of Auxiliary Services, which runs the bookstore and all the food concessions on campus. He moved heaven and earth every day to serve students. He'll be sorely missed! ---cb
