CASA of Contra Costa County
Despite uncertain economic times, CASA supporters turn out in force to ensure yet another successful fundraising event.
There was plenty to be excited about on Saturday, October 3, as approximately 175 CASA , staff, volunteers and supporters attended the annual Evening of Promise, celebrating 28 years of child advocacy ...in Contra Costa County.
Scott's of Walnut Creek provided a wonderful dinning experience, while ABC Channel 7 News Anchor and long time CASA supporter, Dan Ashley, warmly welcomed all to this fun filled community event.
The live and silent auction provided a perfect blend of competitiveness and entertainment as CASA supporters, old new, vied to win sought after auction items. The highlight of the evening was former CASA child, Jaquon Williams, and his touching story of how his CASA advocate,
Kathleen Mohn, also present, helped to turn his life around through her tireless advocacy on his behalf. As Jaquon said "without her dedication to me I would not be with you here tonight".
The success of the event and the new friends we made that evening will help ensure that CASA can continue to provide advocacy services to abused and neglected children throughout Contra Costa County for fiscal year 2009-10.
