Miss Estey, you should read the bill. Here's the link http://docs.house.gov/rules/health/111_ahcaa.pdf, however... don't expect to understand it unless you have a phd and a law degree. Also, research the history of the government run programs we already have. They will be bankrupt very soon. Here's a couple of good places to start your research on that issue (Social Security :

Newsweek - "On pages 201 and 202 of the Medicare report, you will find the conclusive arithmetic: over the next 75 years, Social Security and Medicare will cost an estimated $103.2 trillion, while dedicated taxes and premiums will total only $57.4 trillion. The gap is $45.8 trillion. (All figures are expressed in "present value," a fancy term for "today's dollars.")

Congressional Budget Office - Without changes in law, CBO expects that the Social Security trust funds will be exhausted in 2043. If that point is reached, the Social Security Administration will not have the legal authority to pay full benefits and the amounts that could be paid would be about 17 percent less than those scheduled under current law.... Medicare:

CBO - The growing challenge of Medicare: the Congressional Budget Office projects Medicare spending will grow at an average annual rate of 9 percent over the next 10 years, reaching $766 billion by 2015
Wall Street Journal - "The Medicare Trust Fund goes bankrupt in 2017 (2 years earlier than estimated last year). How on earth are they going to keep that Ponzi scheme going?"
www.socialsecurity.gov - "Medicare's financial status is much worse. As was true in 2008, Medicare's Hospital Insurance (HI) Trust Fund is expected to pay out more in hospital benefits and other expenditures this year than it receives in taxes and other dedicated revenues. The difference will be made up by redeeming trust fund assets. Growing annual deficits are projected to exhaust HI reserves in 2017, after which the percentage of scheduled benefits payable from tax income would decline from 81 percent in 2017 to about 50 percent in 2035 and 30 percent in 2080. In addition, the Medicare Supplementary Medical Insurance (SMI) Trust Fund that pays for physician services and the prescription drug benefit will continue to require general revenue financing and charges on beneficiaries that grow substantially faster thanthan the economy and beneficiary incomes over time."

You shouldn't believe everything you hear from Washington. They lie to get your vote. And if you're looking to the government for a handout, you deserve what you get. Your best bet is to look within for the strength to work for what you need; and to your family, friends, neighbors, and community for a hand up rather than a hand out. That's the ... Read MoreAmerican way. Pull yourself up by the boot straps.

The Constitution bequests to the government specific, enumerated powers in Section 8. And the 10th Amendment states conclusively that "all powers not expressly granted to the federal government, and not expressly prohibited to the states, are reserved to the states or the people". That's us. You will not get what the government is telling you you will get. What will happen...what is already happening is that you will continue to lose your freedoms and liberties until we are all part of the federal government machine. A lot of blood, sweat, and tear were shed so that we may live free of tyranny as we do today. I, for one, do not take that for granted; and I will not give up my God given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for the "promise" of free or affordable health care for approx. 15% of the American population at the expense of the other responsible, tax paying 85%... and most especially at the expense of the wealthiest in America who will not even avail themselves of this entitlement program because they can afford to PAY for their health care and do not require insurance. Quite frankly I would applaud them if they all took their money and left America because of the way our government cheats them and steals from them. How is that even remotely just? And why do we the people...the supreme power in this great country allow and even condone this?

And finally, before you belittle and smear Fox News viewers, watch it for a week. And not the opinion shows on at 5 and 9 pm which is what I'm sure you are referring to. Take your own advice and educate YOURSELF. Watch the news there. Put the cool aid down and watch with an open mind. I think you will find that you will not get more comprehensive, more thoroughly researched reporting of the news anywhere else. My momma used to tell me (and it remains good advice to this day) "it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool...than to speak up and remove all doubt."

thanks for voting against the increase in the foreign aid bill. the next best thing would to lower the amount of money we do not have to foreign countries. i would not object if the aid went to the people that are in desperate need however from what i have observed it is stolen by the so called leaders and put in their own pockets.
