Walter S. Arnold, Sculptor/Stone Carver

Walter Arnold is a sculptor and stone carver who adapts traditional skills to contemporary design and æsthetics. Trained as an apprentice in the marble studios of Pietrasanta, Italy, the center of marble working since Etruscan times, he worked on the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. for five years before establishing his studio in Chicago. Fluent in styles ranging from Classical and Renaissance to Gothic, Baroque and Arts & Crafts, he is known for his gargoyles, unique fireplaces, fountains, and architectural carvings.
