Dear Friends and Former Students of FAMU,
We are very happy to announce the first-ever FAMU alumni event in New
York City, on Thursday, October 29. All FAMU friends and former students
are invited to reunite with old classmates, meet new friends and join in
a toast to honor one of the world’s most renowned film academies.
O...ur reunion coincides with Closing Night of the Czech festival, The
Ironic Curtain: Czech Cinema since the Velvet Revolution, to be held at
the Film Society of Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater October 23-29.
The Closing Night film is the award-winning Karamazovs, written and
directed by FAMU graduate Petr Zelenka. Petr will be present to
introduce the screening, which begins at 6:15 pm.
Following his Q&A, please join FAMU for a festive Closing Night
reception in the Walter Reade Theater gallery, from 8-9:30 pm. Catering
is graciously provided by the Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden and Pilsner
Urquell.
Attending the reception will be FAMU Dean Pavel Jech, former FAMU dean
Michal Bregant, directing professor, Pavel Marek, and former visiting
professors Brendan Ward and Milena Jelinek. Other special guests have
also been invited – but most important will be your attendance and that
of other enthusiastic Friends of FAMU.
So spread the word!
Tickets for the films will soon be available at the Walter Reade Theater
box office, 165 W 65th Street, Film Society of Lincoln Center, Upper
Level Plaza, New York, NY 10023. You may also purchase tickets at
www.filmlinc.com, by calling 212 875 5601 or by emailing
ticketing@filmlinc.com
Attendance for the reception is free (it is not necessary to attend the
film screening). If you can, it would help us if you can confirm your
attendance at FAMUfriends@famu.cz
We look forward to reconnecting with you and the rest of the FAMU
community at this cinematic celebration of 20 years of Czech freedom.
Ahoj!
