One of the many paths of Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga is considered to be one of the more rigorous forms of Yoga as practiced by Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow. Beginning Monday, November 30, First Class, Inc. will offer a three-part yoga series entitled "Ashtanga Basics: Intro to Ashtanga Yoga" from 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at 4...000 Albemarle St., N.W.
This method of Yoga involves synchronizing the breath with progressive series of postures. This produces an intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a strong body, and a calm mind. You will begin by learning the basic movements of the sun salutation and then progress through some the remaining postures of the primary series. You may bring your own mat to class or there are mats available at the class.
Your class will be taught by Keith Moore or David Ingalls of The Ashtanga Yoga Center.
