National Association for Lay Ministry (NALM) “Love is the characteristic that must distinguish us as ministers. And I see such great love in the service rendered by lay ministers in this Diocese. But we can do even more.” Those were the words of the Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge as he spoke to 80 lay ministers at a Celebration of Lay Ministry liturgy on Satur...day, August 30 in Raleigh. National Association for Lay Ministry (NALM) Lay ministers know that their spirituality is at the heart of who they are as believer, layperson and as Church minister. That’s why NALM is focusing this conference on spirituality for lay ministry. We know that while everyone’s spirituality is unique, there are common elements that form a distinctive lay ministerial ...approach. Our conference this year will focus on this spirituality as we make time to reflect, learn, pray and enjoy the community of lay ministers that is at the heart of NALM.

The NALM Annual Conference provides three lively days to:
Tend to your hunger for relationship with God in your ministry
Learn about cutting edge developments in the future of lay ministry
Refresh and renew energy and passion for Trinity–centered ministry
Reflect on the ways that lay ministry continues to develop and grow
Listen to renowned experts on ministry, spirituality, and theology
Build the skills needed for service in ministry
Be part of vibrant liturgies built around the Word of God and the Eucharist
Build your peer network of others who incarnate a spirituality of loving service
Be part of fast-paced forum discussions about the ministry in which you serve
Acknowledge the achievement of lay ministers at the NALM awards banquet

National Association for Lay Ministry (NALM) Hello all -
The following is a sad message from the executive director of NALM, Chris Anderson:

Our friend, Dean Hoge, passed away on Saturday, September 13. Dean’s family was with him when he lost his long fight with cancer.

Dean R. Hoge, Ph.D. (1937-2008), Professor Emeritus of Sociology at The Catholic University of Am...erica, has made important contributions to the world of Catholic research including his collaboration with the Emerging Models Project. He was a tremendous supporter of the Project, having served as the principle researcher on the New Generation Study. He co-led the Young Adult Action Group at the National Ministry Summit and had already completed a manuscript for the Project’s book series through Loyola Press.

All who have benefited from his research will miss him, and the NALM staff and members will certainly miss his unfailing support of our efforts.
