Some of the staff from Naturally Superior Adventures toured up to Thunder Bay to help teach at the North of Superior Kayak Symposium July 11-13 put on by Wilderness Supply.

Join your fellow voyageurs in our roomy, stable, 36-foot-long replica fur trade canoe and explore the intricacies of Lake Superior’s Rossport and St. Ignace islands on your way to the Red Rock Folk and Blues Festival on this guided canoe trip. This year we will be bringing back musician, songwriter, playwright, Ian Tam...blyn.
The voyageur canoe was used for dozens of years during the fur trade and handles well in winds and waves. It carries a very generous amount of gear and makes Lake Superior accessible and safe for less experienced paddlers. On this trip we will paddle through northwestern Lake Superior’s island archipelago, a chain of hundreds of scenic, semi-mountainous islands complete with agates, lighthouses and first-come, first-served wilderness saunas.

Enjoy laid back soul surfin’ or intense ender sessions in the freshwater surf playground at the mouth of the Michipicoten River. This informal gathering of surf-seeking intermediate to advanced paddlers takes advantage of autumnal gales and late summer warm water to provide an informal, instructional and by all means e...ntertaining way to cap off your paddling season in early October. You’ll be wishing the weekend will never end.

Besides fantastic surf, excellent meals, great entertainment, first-rate camaraderie and a non-intimidating environment are the hallmarks of the Surfing Superior Confluence. Non-paddlers are welcome to share in the excitement by watching from shore. For outdoor action sports photographers, the Surf Confluence is a dream come true. Registration includes a beach campsite and hearty, home-cooked meals at Rock Island Lodge, and a Saturday night house concert.

Naturally Superior Adventures
Every August, Naturally Superior Adventures hosts Ontario’s only Greenland-style sea kayak symposium on Lake Superior. Instructors include Bonnie Perry and Doug Van Doren, two of North America’s finest Greenland-style paddlers. Perfect for first-time and experienced Greenland-style paddlers alike, registration includes... the use of a handmade paddle.
Where the vast majority of Greenland-style retreats have focused on flatwater skills, Naturally Superior's Greenland-Style Paddling Symposium includes surf kayaking at the mouth of the Michipicoten River. Novice and women-only programs make this event perfect for everyone. And Sunday’s Greenland-style competition combines a sprint race and portage with rolling and traditional hunting techniques in a fun-filled format.
With a maximum registration of 50 participants, there will be lots of personalized teaching and feedback from our instructors. Registration includes a beach campsite and hearty, home-cooked meals at Rock Island Lodge, and a Saturday night house concert.

Naturally Superior Adventures
This package was put together to celebrate the "girl's weekend away". We've teamed together some active portions with some pampered moments so you can justify this well deserved "me" weekend.
Your retreat starts late afternoon on Friday. We'll have a healthy, home-made feast in the front room of our Rock Island Lodge,... overlooking Lake Superior. After dinner we'll have a fun dance lesson- maybe belly, meringue or salsa.
The next two days will be a compliment of activities such as kayak lessons and tours, a mountain bike excursion, a hike along the Voyageur Trail, not to mention swimming and the ever-popular lounging activity. Also included are yoga sessions, reiki treatments, relaxation techniques and massage. You can sign up for the workshops that interest you.

Naturally Superior Adventures Naturally Superior Adventures and Superior Outfitters are celebrating the world’s largest body of freshwater and Canada’s newest National Marine Conservation Area by bringing the Rossport Islands Kayak Symposium back to the North Shore of Lake Superior June 20 to 22, 2008. Based in the quaint village of Rossport, Ont.,... located on the Trans-Canada Highway about 180 kilometres east of Thunder Bay, the weekend event includes presentations by adventurers and photojournalists Gary and Joanie McGuffin (www.garyandjoaniemcguffin.com) and sea kayak instruction and tours for paddlers of all levels. Special interest workshops, including yoga, photography and first aid, as well as a family program, makes this sea kayak festival appealing to everyone.
