In late 2003, Wayside was thrilled to open the new Wayside Waifs Bark Park, given and dedicated by the Harold and Marilyn Melcher family. And what a great park it is for an off-leash romp with your canine friends!

I've only been to Wayside Waifs once and it was a heartbreaking experience, but it was the best for the feral kittens I handed over. We couldn't take in anymore rescues and we feared for the kitten's lives. I decided one day to take them to Wayside and I can tell you I cried all the way back to KCK. I still think about... the kittens every so often, wondering what happened to them. One was named Snake because he always hissed at me, I forget the other's name. No matter how much they may have hissed, they loved the attention and knew that they were loved.Read More

I get your emails and we contribute each year. We adopted 2 adult Siamese cats in 1992 and both of these loves have now crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We have 3 feline kids now, all rescued, 2 Siamese and 1 ragdoll. So precious. I fell in love with a sheltie mix older dog on your site a few weeks ago and wanted to see... him. But my husband and the cats said no way - I'll keep working on them. But this fella, named Buddy, is not on the available list this week. Did he get a good home? Can someone report on him?Read More
