Chester County Planning Commission Chester County Commissioners adopted Landscapes2, the county's updated
comprehensive land use policy plan, at a public hearing Monday.

Thirteen
years ago, the commissioners adopted the first version of Landscapes,
drawing attention to the danger the county faced from sprawling
development.

In Monday's resolution adopting the... policy, county officials formally recognized suburban sprawl remains a problem.

"Chester
County continues to experience a sprawl development pattern that
consumes vast amounts of land and resources and contributes to the
decline in the quality of life," the resolution says. "The Board of
County Commissioners recommits itself to managing growth by encouraging
sound economic development, revitalizing our urban centers and
protecting open space and agricultural resources."
