Melanie Sokolski Hopefully we will be able to come to the West Coast to sea glass hunt. At our beach house in Connecticut we usually only find brown, greens, white and occasionally light blue. Can't wait!!

We were there for over an hour, as some J's and K's made their way slowly south, mostly across Admiralty Inlet in small groups, foraging. They seemed to disappear and we had started to pack up and go home when someone said in an excited voice: "They're here, they're her...e!" I looked where he pointed and saw fins and blows inside of the point of land we were standing on, coming our way. I scrambled to get the camcorder and get to the wall, and forgot to take the lens cap off at first. This tight group of L pod orcas came on strong, rounding Bush Point where the depth is only 20-30 feet. You can hear the charge the whales stirred in everybody.

We are happy to report that there are more Orca whale sightings in the Salish Sea. As of just four years ago, the resident and already endangered Orca pod (the J pod) was feared to be dwindling rapidly. New sightings and at least one new baby this past year are encouraging news...
