Roger Also, could the band consider having more concerts with the Hellcats combined. When you guys play together you are a unique combined ensemble unlike any other US service band. "Sambre et Meuse" and "West Point March" are great selections for you and I have heard older recordings of them. But there is so much more you could do togther. In years past it seems both played together more than seems to be the case today. Too bad.

Roger
The concert was very good in Bklyn. First-rate in fact. I think the audience was disappointed that "Stars and Stripes" was not played as an encore. Even thouhg I can pass on hearing that great march for the 100th time, I thought it was a standard encore pass almost like "Scotland the Brave" is for british combined bands as they march-off.
The program could have used a march to end the first half and to open the second half. Two good choices would have been perhaps an R.B. Hall march "Officerr of the Day" or "New Colonial" Karl King could have been included with his "Purple Pageant". You could give Sousa a break by playing these great US march composers so that the American public might still get a little exposure to them. lesser known Sousa marches also would be great

Roger Thanks, looks like your standard US service band concert, but most likely i shall attend as I like the band and military music in general.

Roger It was great to see the band at the Sousa concert the other day at the point. Wonderful program of Sousa era music. More US service bands should put on annual programs like this to honor sousa and other great American march composers.

Ken Trey Robertson This is awsome that the band is moving into the future by getting a facebook page. I hope this attracts more attention to the band.

Bob Shoaf Yes Pat went to the West Point band after serving in Korea, would have been somewhere around 81-85 when he first got there, and not sure when he retired, but I do think he retired from the West Point band as well. He is married to Kim Casey, from Korea and had two children Linda (mid 30s now) and Benjamin (about 2-3 years younger than Linda). His mother lived in Texas. He played alto sax. He was learning to become a piano technician (tuner etc) when we last saw each other in Texas at his mothers home, around 1986 or so.

Sara Anyone know where I can get my hands on a copy of the sheet music for the West Point March? My Grandpa (Reggie Correa) played in the band forever and I'd like to have it for nostalgia.

Let me also say what a TREAT it was to play with the "Jazz Knights" and the reconstituted USMA Rock Band last weekend at the almni and retirees concert. I had a FANTASTIC time both bands played wonderfully!
