Hi everyone. My name's Paul Sussman and I wrote The Hidden Oasis, an archaeological thriller set around the search for a mythical lost Saharan oasis. I used to work as a field archaeologist in Egypt and my experiences there - including digging up the first pieces of ancient jewellery to have been found in the Valley of the Kings since Tutankhamun ... Read Morewas discovered in 1922 - have provided a wealth of material for my novels. This particular one combines ancient history with modern politics and takes you from the foetid back streets of Cairo to the spectacular temples of the Nile Valley, from the lush palm groves of Dakhla Oasis to the searing wastes of the Western Desert. I hope you have as much fun reading it as I did writing it, and that as well as being thrilled, surprised and - with a bit of luck! - entertained, you will also come away knowing a bit more about the history, people and landscapes of Egypt, a country that is very close to my heart.
