In the Part 1 of this workshop, Dr. KC Chan shall shares with us his experiences and career journey in his last 30 years from how he progress from a a salesman, to become a manager to the post of COO of a casino... in Asia, follow up how he ended up as a Director of Internal Consulting with one of the largest conglomerate in Indonesia to turn around the company from crisis, with a debt of US$ 14 billion in 1998, to becoming a high performance company by 2004 and how faced with a death threat he returned to Singapore to find himself being irrelevant after all his years of professional experiences. He will also shares with us how and the reasons why he turned from being a professional manager, to a leader and now an entrepreneur and why he believes that everyone should take on 3 jobs as a (1) Specialist (2) Consultant and (3) Coach.

About Dr KC Chan
---------------------------
Dr Chan has had over 25 years of senior management experience covering agricultural, industrial and commercial products cum services.
Specifically, Dr Chan had spent six years to assist one of the largest conglomerate in Indonesia to turn around from crisis, with a debt of US$ 14 billion in 1998, to becoming a high performance company by 2004. For the initial two years, Dr Chan was cooperating with McKinsey which acted as the main consultant and the remaining four years Dr Chan was promoted to the position as Director of Internal Management Consulting Division. Three Vice-Presidents and eighty Management Consultants under his leadership managed to turn around the conglomerate for their banking and insurance, pulp and paper, agriculture and real estate businesses with an annual revenue of US$ 6 billion.
Dr Chan was also in charge of the Cambodia Asia Bank when he was the Chief Operating Officer of the Integrated Resort in Cambodia responsible for setting up the Bank, Casino, Resort Hotels, Theme Parks and Training School. The investment was around US$ 1.3 billion. Prior to switching to the commercial service business world, he was the regional General Manager as a pioneer in the business development of Southeast Asia and China markets for Japanese and Canadian high-tech equipment. These turn key solutions range from a low of US$ 1 million to a high of US$ 20 million per business deal. Hence, favourable financing of these projects was one of the most importat criteria for wining the contract. Dr Chan successfully helped many companies to acquire their loans from the international bank syndicate.
Dr Chan was a Director in IPS Associates Asia Pte Ltd where he developed 3 Client Business Managers in business consultancy using total integrated project management solutions for market penetration into key accounts like Microsoft, HP & Compaq, Shell, Morgan Stanley, Singapore Stock Exchange, DBS, OCBC, UOB, Prudential, Sing Tel, IDA during the initial 3 months and initiated strategic client business partnerships with Indonesia’s profit and non-profit organizations to enhance the core competencies of their managers in the execution of strategies using a common language for work, i.e. integrated project management.
Dr Chan believes in the “Teaching Organisation” concept as a Corporate Trainer. As such he had been actively teaching for the past 20 years on a part-time basis and switch to an International Management Consultant some 10 years ago. He is a visiting Professor to Southeast Asian universities for their EMBA degree and senior executive programmes in subjects like Strategic Planning & Management, Leadership & Organisational Development, International Business Management, Entrepreneurship & Intrapreneurship, Integrated Project Management & Enterprise Balanced Scorecard, Coherent Strategy for World-Class Banking Services, and Transition Management for Effective Change.
