This year marks the 20th anniversary of Bo Fitz and the YankCelt
Band. Formed in 1990, the original ensemble includes: Bo
Fitzgerald, Jeff Sullivan, Craig Eastman and Guy DeVito. In 1998, ...
Steppenwolf's Ron Hurst joined the band on drums. Billy Klock later
replaced Ron and has been an integral part of the sound since 2001.
In 2004, Singer and Accordian player Mixie Clarke of Galway, Ireland
was asked to make a guest appearance with the band, and he has been
making the trip across the pond from Ireland for all the band's St.
Patrick's Day appearances since!

But just a few months ago, the venue reopened under new ownership and so far,... the pub is a rousing success."It's a relaxed atmosphere where people can come, have a drink and some food, be able to have a conversation or listen to music," said O'Driscoll's head chef Jim Fahey. Fahey, who attended to University of Massachusetts several decades ago, was working in the Cambridge area when he got the call to come to Wilbraham and put together the menu for O'Driscoll's. Fahey is best known for his cooking at Cambridge's renowned Forest Cafe. But he is thrilled to be back in Western Massachusetts."I love it here," he said. "The people are so friendly and our customers are great."Even though Fahey is the chef, he said he likes that the venue is now less of a restaurant than the previous incarnation."We turned the concept on its head. Now it's more of a pub where you can get some great food," he said. To that end, the new owners, Abe Yacteen and Pete Maruca, revamped the pub, putting a lounge in one of the dining areas and installing new state-of-the-art flat-screen televisions."They did it right and the place looks really cool," Fahey said. "To me, it defines what a pub should be."O'Driscoll's features everything from Mexican and American fare and offers 25-cent wings during Monday Night Football. One aspect the new owners have kept is music on weekends. The range spans everything from classic rock to traditional Irish music. O'Driscoll's Pub is open 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday-Thursday; 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday; and noon to 2 a.m. on weekends. The pub is located at 2823 Boston Road.
