So another month down of touring.  Another month of facial hair growth
(eating an ice cream cone has again officially become a nightmare).
Another month of eating a diet that any college senior not on the cafeteria
meal plan would be terribly proud of (see: beef jerkey, Guinness and
V8...would have said 'ice cream cones', too were it not for the above
mentioned beard issue.) * (by the way, if you're reading solely just for
the new tour dates, please feel free to simply scroll down below. The truth
is that I'll have no way of knowing that you didn't read what I have to
say. But you'll know, and neither you nor I wants you to have to deal with
that kind of guilt:). June went wicked fast.  Not fast like when your
grandmother used to say "goodness me that day really seemed to fly by;" I
mean fast like the last month of summer before you had to go back to
school.  Man, I hated that damn month. Freaking school. Anyways. So June
went by in a hurry, and it was a brilliant month. Nearly all of it was
spent on the road with [http://www.myspace.com/brookefraser] Brooke
(Fraser) , playing shows and sharing music. Not a bad month as far as I'm
concerned. Easy highlight: getting to sing with Brooke every night at the
end of the shows. I still have no idea why I'm so lucky to get to play and
sing with all the ridiculously talented people I seem to always get to -
but I'm definitely enjoying it :) but it sure does go by fast.  The last
fun of east coast dates was fantastic, albeit very tiring. I spent a few
days in Boston with an old college friend helping him move. In 90 degree
heat. From the 3rd Floor. Via a spiral staircase. On barely any sleep. It's
all worth it to get to see an old friend of course. Although the first
floor sure would have been easier:) but I digress. The time spent on the
road also gave me some good time to think on some things that I've been
somehow avoiding direct consideration of. Namely: what it is that I'm
actually doing with myself and my music? Seems like an odd question, and it
probably is. But it's a serious one and I'd like to think an extremely
important one for anyone to address (and re-address) at various points in
their life (i.e. 'what direction am I moving in - why am I engaged in the
work I am doing, etc...) I suppose the thing is I never really thought I
would get to do this for a living - so I never really had the opportunity
to put the kind of thought into my purpose for doing it that I believe it
deserves. It's not a light responsibility being able to share music and
words with others.  And I always want to make sure that with every note and
syllable I am mindful of that responsibility. To ignore that would be to
take for granted what I have been given. And I will not do that. I never
have I never will. In any case, I think I'll return to that topic later on.
For now suffice it to say it was a good month. And I'll take those gladly
whenever I can get them:) So without further ado, I am pleased to announce

Relativity is a strange bird. And for whatever reason it's a subject that
ends up coming up in my mind more often than I'd elect it to. But it does.
So I think on it. For example, it feels as if I just put out 'Goodnight'
only a few months ago, but when I actually look at the calendar (note: I
did not actually physically look at a calendar) it's been just about 2
years to the day that I started making that record. 2 years. Might not seem
like a lot, but for me, those 2 years have been analogous to how social
scientists discuss the last couple centuries in terms of the leaps and
bounds of technological advancements, when compared to the earlier parts of
human history. e.g. rocks and sticks for most of history - vcrs,
microwaves, jet skis, and beanie babies all only recently). In other words
- a lot has changed. Or to quote a semi-proficient songwriter: "Everything
Has Changed." (side note: and now I've begun referencing myself in my own
blogs.) In any case, the songs will tell the story. Probably better than I
could tell it myself. And so it is my sincere and lofty hope that these
songs will mean something to you, because they mean a great deal to me. And
I think they will. And while I have no gift wrap or Vana White to provide a
more dramatic reveal, I am proud to finally (and first) let you know my new
record is called: "The Sparrow and The Crow." Still no exact release
date...but it's coming. I hope today finds you well and the sun shines
brightly.
