The premise for Jamey Grimes’s largest project to date starts with considering “the structure and energy within a rainforest.” The scale, biodiversity, and complexity of rainforests are so immense that words used to characterize them include ‘ma...jestic,’ ‘staggering,’ and ‘indescribable’ yet the interdependence of elements in the rainforest is intricate and fragile. In Throughfall, Grimes recreates the rainforest ecosystem in a pristine abstraction of “falling energy and forms that struggle to catch it.”Read More
