Apple does none of the things that pundits always say you should do to succeed in the Internet economy.

Copywriter-Bob Devol Communications In the You CAN Make This Stuff Up Department: Ever wonder where Santa and Rudolph came from? (Hint: it isn't the North Pole.) Read my latest post on ADmonishments at http://bobdevol.wordpress.com/.

Copywriters and art directors didn’t save Christmas. I needed a C.A.G.D. (Cheap Attention Getting Device) and “saved” is more dramatic than ‘helped create.”

Copywriter-Bob Devol Communications It's up! My all-new website, that is. There's a comprehensive portfolio, clients background, a list of all the stuff I do, and even the latest Tiger Woods voice mail tapes. (Okay, maybe not the last one.) Listen to me...drop everything and head over to www.BobDevol.com right freaking now.

Copywriter-Bob Devol Communications My Favorite-est TV Spot Ever (for Today): Maria Bamford now appearing in spots for Target (aka, "Tergit") stores. Once again, Target's creative team hits the bulls-eye (Get it? "Target?" "bulls-eye?") with their new holiday shopping campaign starring the slightly short circuited Ms. Bamford.

Copywriter-Bob Devol Communications In the Can't Make This Stuff Up Department: just heard a radio spot for GM's ingenious On Star on-board driver assistance system. (Which, by the way I love. Got it on my GMC truck.) If you've heard the spots, they're actual recordings of On Star emergency assistance calls and they're compelling stuff. In the spot I... just heard, On Star is helping a mother and child get assistance after an accident. Once they hear help is on the way, the little kid chimes in and says to On Star, "thank you, car!" Damn, sometimes a product speaks for itself.

Copywriter-Bob Devol Communications Crowdsourcing. Is it us against (a lot of) them? What do you think?

Imagine advertising created without copywriters and art directors. Ads, commercials, designs, logos, even whole campaigns conjured up by hundreds of erstwhile “creatives” out there…somewhere…somehow…

Copywriter-Bob Devol Communications It's Computer Wars II: Mac versus PC.

Microsoft has rolled out a far-reaching campaign, through Crispin Porter Bogusky, touting the PC People-inspired advantages of new Windows 7. Apple has counterattacked with a new run of "Mac and PC" spots, again from TBWA/Los Angeles, taking swipes at Windows' checkered past and... how it might affect its present. Considering that you guys are mostly MAC people, I'm guessing there's a bias here. That aside, does the new campaign for Windows 7 sway you even a little?

hey... don't forget Linux.... :P
All of my computer artwork & design is done using Linux Apps. and I'm not even a highly technically skilled freak haha.
I'm not one for the platform wars but, I did have constant issues with Windows (it's fine as long as it never meets the .net and Mac is just too pricey for my taste. But, it basically comes down ... See Moreto, what ever works for you.
I do however still have my G4 mac that I love.... and will never part with.. and it runs 10.2 which I still view as the best to date.

Copywriter-Bob Devol Communications Ever tried Brain Bombing? Maybe that's not what you call it, but we've all done it from time to time. More on this in my latest blog post on ADmonishments.

We’ve all done it. We get stuck for an idea and start flipping pages in an issue of Communication Arts or a similar advertising review

Copywriter-Bob Devol Communications To me, a great logo is unmistakable. I saw this one on a license plate hundreds of feet away and it instantly registered. Of course, it helps that they've displayed it on all their ships, boats and aircraft for more than 40 years. Now that's what I call sticking to your brand.

Copywriter-Bob Devol Communications Is Vince Offer -- the sopping and chopping "Sham Wow! / Slap Chop" guy -- becoming the new king of direct TV? Frankly, I think he's kinda fun and effective. What do you think?

I think this guy is so darn weird that he holds my attention. I mean - who can really TALK & move like that, all at the same time? So, fast - it's like looking at the guy with the peanut shells - at the State Fair - hiding the pea under - WHICH ONE - as he moves them around at sonic speed! Sort of SUPER HUMAN . . . AND FUNNY, at least to ME! HE makes me laugh . . . I sometimes forget what he is selling. The same w/the late Willy Mayes . . .

I like him... and the added bonus, he doesn't have that really annoying, constant hand-gesture thing going on.
He's kinda like Vinny the "buy this now or if you know what's good for you" guy. It's definitely the whole "wise-guy" sound of his voice haha
