They are out of sight of morality police on the other side of the bridge who have set up a station to monitor people's behavior and dress. I shot this in 1998 for National Geographic Magazine during four months of travels throughout the country, lan...d of my grandfather's birth. It's in the Iran chapter of my book. It's in the Palestinians, a chapter in my book Windows of the Soul: My Journeys in the Muslim World. I lived in Gaza for two years between the fall of 1992 and winter 1995. My book took about 20 years to make, including the photographs, editing and writing. It's a memoir....
