What is Erika's Lighthouse?
"A beacon of hope for adolescent depression"
Erika's Lighthouse is dedicated to raising awareness about adolescent depression and mental health for young people. We strongly believe that early identification and intervention can help young people get the help they need to lead happy, healthy, and productive lives.
What is Our Purpose?
1) To advocate for people who have depression
2) To educate others on this treatable illness
3) To eliminate stigma by talking about it
What is Depression?
Depression is still a very misunderstood illness. Many people don’t recognize it as a disease that requires professional attention. But, in reality it is a very serious medical condition that is no different than heart disease, cancer or diabetes.
Depression is an epidemic. It affects one in eight adolescents, and has the potential to destroy lives. On top of the prevalence of the disease, many teens go undiagnosed either out of shame, or failure to recognize the warning signs.
Our goal is to make sure everyone understands that there is help and hope out there, and that mental health is for EVERYONE!
What is ELH Club at NTHS?
ELH club at NTHS is a student group that raises awareness about depression in NTHS through fundraisers and other fun events like the walk-a-thon, the benefit concert, the teen panel presentation and much more.
When Do We Meet?
*Tuesdays after school at the Winnetka campus in room 109
*Tuesdays before school at the Northfield campus in room D221
EXCEPT the first Tuesday of the month will only meet at the Winnetka campus
How Do We Make a Difference?
-Educating others through panel presentations
-Organizing the ELH Walk-a-thon
-Participating in Wellness Week/Mental Health Week
-Hosting a benefit concert
-Displaying art on mental health

Erika's Lighthouse
Erika's Lighthouse Come watch four bands perform for Erika's Lighthouse 3rd annual BREAK THE SILENCE benefit show at the Warming House in Wilmette on Lake + Ridge. Admission is $5 and with your entry you receive a free raffle ticket and a chance to win ITunes gift cards. All proceeds benefit Erika's Lighthouse and our efforts to get depr...ession out of the dark through community wide education!

Erika's Lighthouse Each year, Erika's Lighthouse hosts a walkathon to raise money to fund the organization. The money helps us spread awareness and educate people about depression.
Erika's Lighthouse The teens of Erika's Lighthouse present a panel of true stories about depression to other teens in hope to educate adolescents on the red flags and destigmatize this disease.
