Vermont Children's Aid Society Kids-A-Part Program Director Tara Graham testified about the needs of children at the time of a parent's arrest. Here's a copy of Peter Hirschfeld's article that ran in the April 19 Rutland Herald.

Thanks to Ms Graham for taking on the task of alleviating trauma to children of offenders. Recently I had the pleasure of working with Ms Graham to resolve an issue impacting my grandchild who was prevented from being in contact with his custodial parent who was participating in the DOC Intensive Domestic Abuse Program. She was a very strong advocate on behalf of my grandchild and I have the upmost respect for her and the Kids-A-Part program

Now, I know this picture doesn't look like much. But when I walked by this amazing stack of boxes this morning, I knew I wanted to share it with our friends.

These boxes are loaded into our receptionist's car on their way to the post office to be mailed. They're filled with holiday presents that have passed through our office. In these weeks leading up to the holidays, Vermont Children's Aid Society turns into a combination toy store-shipping center-warehouse.

How does this happen? Supporters just like you give gifts for the Vermont children of incarcerated parents. Or help a client family in need by getting their childrens' wish lists and filling those wishes. Or support the cost to ship presents from birth parents to the children they've placed for adoption. Or helping as volunteers. ... Read More
