Reynolda House to Focus on Spring Program, Close to the Public in January
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (October 13, 2009) – A spring 2010 season that includes a photography exhibition by a living artist and a series of programs developed exclusively for the museum will be the focus of Reynolda House Museum of American Art staff... members in January 2010.
Reynolda House will be closed to the public for the month of January and reopen on Tuesday, Feb. 2, one week before the museum opens "William Christenberry: Photographs, 1961-2005" on Feb. 12.
"In a month when we traditionally see few visitors, closing to the public in January will reduce our operating expenses, conserving and redirecting funds and staff time toward preparing for an exciting spring season for the Triad," said Allison Perkins, Reynolda House executive director. "This decision was made only after much research and consideration of a variety of cost-savings options that would have the least impact on our community."
The spring program at Reynolda House will include a lecture by photographer William Christenberry, a concert for voice and piano composed for Reynolda House by Kenneth Frazelle and the premiere of a play based on the book "Let Us Now Praise Famous Men."
Reynolda House will be open until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31 and reopen on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 9:30 a.m.
