We've finally received our first batch of advance tickets for the 2009 Winthrop R&B Festival! They're available for sale now on http://www.winthroptickets.com for $65 through Dec 31st. After that they'll be $70 ($80 at the gate). Taxes and shipping are included in the ticket price.
The festival will be July 17th, 18th, ...and 19th. If you know for sure you're coming, now's the time to buy those tickets and save money!

We just received an update from the DOT today (Oct 7th) regarding latest conditions of the North Cascades Pass. To summarize, there's about 2 inches of slush on the roads from Rainy Pass east for about ten miles to Cutthroat Ridge (below Washington Pass), and while it's "not bad" they warn against trying to pass the sn...ow plows: "it's pretty easy to lose control in slush when you're driving too fast and start hydroplaning."
Here's the forecast:
Snow levels will be dropping down to near 4,000 feet this morning with frequent snow showers and squalls throughout the day over the North Cascades passes. Roads likely remain wet at the 4,000 ft level, however, 2-4” snow accums are likely up above 5,000 feet near the Washington Pass area. Snow showers continue tonight with snow levels falling down to near 3,500 feet with potential road accums down to 4,000 feet. Another system will bring an increase in mountain snow on Thursday with snow levels possibly dropping below 3,000 feet!

Christmas at the End of the Road is a great treat, done by and for the locals of the Methow Valley, with a fantastic fireworks show, dinner and variety show at the Winthrop Barn, hot air balloon glow, and the lighting of the Winthrop shops.

Central Reservations The Methow Conservancy is a nonprofit organization that works primarily with conservation easements to protect over 5,500 acres and 17.5 miles of critical riparian shoreline habitat along the Methow River and its tributaries. The easements help families keep their farms and ranches and protect the open space and scenic... views for which the Valley is so famous. Central Reservations Fall is here in the Methow Valley and the leaves are beginning to change! There's still a lot of green, but more and more yellow and even bits of red are beginning to show through. Last year, the colors were just stunning and peaked around mid-October.
Central Reservations We went to the Cider Squeeze in Winthrop this past weekend, hosted by the Methow Conservancy. There's nothing quite like fresh-pressed apple cider. What a great way to kick of the fall!
