World Tapir Day has been established, in the first instance, to raise awareness about the four species of tapir that inhabit Central and South America and South-East Asia.
Mission:
- To raise the general awareness of tapirs and their conservation; and
- To draw further attention to the environment threats that the planet faces.

Thanks to your support, World Tapir Day has been a success.

Now the real work starts. Let's make 2009 World Tapir Day even more of a success by organising actual events and raising the event's profile in the media. This year's event may have only just passed, but it's time to start planning for next year, so that we can coordinate events around the world and produce high quality materials to help promote it.
