So what is the MPGe rating of the Volt?? I was surprised to find that my minivan which gets 23 mpg when I drive it gets a 17 mpg rating from the Obama EPA so it qualifies as a clunker! Now if the X-prize will give me a job I will have enough money to trade my clunker in on a Nissan Leaf!

It's all about the 2/3rds: In the US, we import over 2/3rds of our oil. What have YOU done to personally reduce your consumption by 2/3rds?

I'll never forget (nor forgive) GM for what they brought to the 2008 HybridFest: the Hybrid Denali & Yuckon. Most impressive vehicle there? A young gearhead brought his beater 1990's era Honda CRX HF, getting 68 mpg mixed driving. No biodiesel, no ethanol and no hybrid. Straight ICE. In need of a paint job, but he said he had less than US$6,000 in the car.

The US car companies need to get that it's REDUCE first. The average US household is less-than 2.3 people and dropping. Half of us drive 25 miles or less a day, 80% drive less-than 50. Most households have 2 or more cars... and the "standard" US manufactured car seats 5.... Read More
