YMCA Camp Hi-Rock

YMCA Camp Hi-Rock Last year our dedicated team of Hi-Rock staff took the plunge into the icy waters of Plantain Pond to raise money for the Strong Kids Campaign. This year we are willing to do it again, but we want you to join us!

Log on to
www.firstgiving.com/icewater
to join us in the lake or support us from the shore (or the comfort ...of your home.)

On January 24, 2010 we will be cutting a hole in the ice and some lucky people will jumping in to the frigid waters. Last year was chilly, but this year the water is colder and the stakes are higher.
Are you just crazy enough to join us? Here is how to become one of the few, the proud, the insane: the Ice-Breakers.
Young adults 12-20 years old: Raise $50 or more for the Strong Kids Campaign: you may do so through your own first giving site or with a designated contribution on this site. (Ask whomever is donating it to include your name in the comment section of their donation on the site.)
Adults 20 and up: Raise at least $100 for the Strong Kids Campaign. Our goal for you is $50 for every that you have been involved with Hi-Rock! You may create your own first-giving site or ask people to designate their donations on the comment section of this site.
The less inclined you are to go in the water, the higher you should set your goal. In fact, some people are so fond of warmth that they refuse to go in unless their fundraising goals are met. Not everyone likes the idea of frozen toes, so we have set goals to get them in the water.
Know somebody that could use a cold dip? Nominate a friend (or enemy) to take the plunge and get the support needed to get them in the lake!
We want 2009 to feel the love, so the highest individual fundraiser at the end of the day December 31, 2009 we be given a wet suit to wear (if they choose) when we take the plunge!
Based on tenure/winters at Hi-Rock, we have set the following bounties on our staff.
At $800 Paul Taylor and Ryan Bradshaw will break some ice
At $1500 Tim Cha will demonstrate the most painful way to do a belly flop
At $2000 Susan Buckwalter will doggie paddle around
At $3000 Ali Holmes, wearing a speedno, will take on the lake
At $5,000 Jessica Speer Holmes will go take a dip
At $10,000 and not a penny less, Paul Duffy will fully submerge into the icy grip Plantain Pond.
All first-giving sites will count towards this collective goal, so if you start your own site, you are still working towards getting Paul Duffy in the lake.
To set up a firstgiving page go to click on the icon above that says "I want to raise money too."

YMCA Camp Hi-Rock

YMCA Camp Hi-Rock The White Whopper is a tradition here at Hi-Rock. Every year, a number of dedicated and determined Family Campers take on the lake in a fun and competitive swim nicknamed "The White Whopper."
During the swim around our 90 acre lake, participants are accompanied by lifeguards and spotters in canoes and kayaks. This Fam...ily Camp and Hi-Rock tradition has long been a highlight of the week and enjoyed by competitive and novice swimmers alike.
This year we are offering a special opportunity to raise money for our Strong Kids Campaign. The SKC allows Hi-Rock to maintain an open door policy and never turn a child away for an inability to pay.
Every year, hundreds of children experience the magic of Camp Hi-Rock. Many of the children who experience that magic every summer would not be able to do so without generous support from people like you who donate to the Strong Kids Campaign.

Please join us in this amazing event.

Participation is free for Family Campers. Non Family Campers may participate for a $50 registration fee. Our goal is for every swimmer to raise at least $500 for the Strong Kids Campaign.

We encourage all participants to create a personal fundraising page at www.firstgiving.com/camphirock. You can tell your story and set your goal.
