Coquitlam, British Columbia. On September, 13th, 2008, Zoë Royer was acclaimed federal candidate for the New Democrat Party in the riding of Port Moody – Westwood – Port Coquitlam.
Community supporter Fred Soofi hosted the nomination at Pasta Polo restaurant in Coquitlam. “Zoë’s ability to understand business and her passion for social causes make her the right person for the job. She has my full support” Soofi said.
Master of Ceremonies Darryl Tolentino spoke of Royer as "a rising star" in front of an audience that included former MP Joy Langan, Mike Farnworth, MLA, Diane Thorne, MLA, and many local politicians. Dawn Black, MP for New Westminster-Coquitlam, applauded Zoë’s contribution to the community, noting her volunteer work with the Tri-Cities Cold Wet Weather Mat program and other non-profit groups. A full house heard Royer deliver an energizing speech.

"Although it should be law, I pledge that I will not change party affiliation after I am elected", Royer declared. “NDP MPs and candidates have integrity when it comes to raising funds, setting the party’s agenda and staying the course after each election.”
